#lastseen Image Research Plattform

Concept, Product Design and Development for the #lastseen atlas making holocaust research accessible.

Unveiling History: A plattform to connect regular users and scientists to history's lessons.

Building a digital research platform

The #lastseen Atlas is a digital archive that brings together Holocaust-era photographs from Germany in one accessible platform. We designed it so researchers, historians, and everyday readers can explore rare evidence of this dark chapter in history without getting lost in scattered resources.

By focusing on simplicity and impact, we help preserve these images—and their stories—so they’re never forgotten. The plattform was featured in world-leading publications from The Guardian to the SZ and has gathered over 500.000 pages views in just over a year.

A computer screen displays a map with multiple bright green markers, indicating locations in a geographic area. A small black and white photo is shown near one marker. The interface includes various navigation and filter options.

Uncovering forgotten photographies and the stories they tell.

Two people holding a tablet displaying a sepia-toned photograph of soldiers. The screen shows annotations and text on the side. The surrounding area is softly lit, highlighting the device.

Two people sit facing a laptop on a table. The screen displays text on both a dark and a light background. One individual is touching the laptop's trackpad, and the room is dimly lit.
As the #lastseen atlas continues to grow through new discoveries and research, it is being featured in world-renowned publications like the Guardian, SZ and Haaretz. This proves our ambition to make research accessible by millions. Since its launch, the product has attracted over 500.000 views.
